Social-Emotional Development

Building healthy positive relationships with all learners and promoting a positive classroom environment is vital in student learning and behavior.

CREATE POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH STUDENTS

There are several ways to develop positive relationships with students on a daily basis. Start by greeting them individually at the door when they enter for the day. Build respect by showing the students that you really care about them as people.Get to know what excites them and what they do outside of the classroom. Share your own experiences so they get to know you too.

CLEARLY DEFINE

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

Studies have shown that rigorous expectations are directly correlated to high performance and positive behavior in students. By clearly defining the parameters of expected behaviors (especially when in collaborating situations), monitoring behaviors, and implementing the necessary consequences, enables students to understand how important their behavior means to their learning.
